Toffee Our Foster Dog

Here's Bobby aka Toffee, boys think he looks like Toffee so we're calling him that.

We are fostering him for the Richmond Boxer Rescue until his Rescue can pick him up on August 10th.

He's the sweetest dog and settling in quite well here. He just stood there for me to get his bath. He's not sure what to think about treats, toys or rawhides BUT give me a few days!

He enjoyed his supper I made him and since then he's decided I'm "aok" ... he's now my personal shadow, following me all over. And has claimed the spot by my feet when I'm at my computer desk, that or he nudges his head under my arm for some attention. And in the short time he's been here, he's now starting to wag his tail at me when he sees me.

Whoever ends up adopting him will be very lucky, he's going to make a great addition to someones family.

A.J.'s Urology Appointment

This morning A.J. had a renal (bladder/kidney) ultrasound, then right after he had a appointment with his Urologist, Dr. Koo.

We met with Dr. Koo to discuss A.J.'s up coming surgeries and go over his u/s results. U/S was good, the cyst on A.J.'s kidney Dr. Koo was keeping an eye on has gotten smaller and "is now simple and of no concern" to quote Dr. Koo - YAY!

A.J.asked lots of questions he had, I did as well. We are on schedule for August 25th for his surgeries. First priority for the surgery is to augment his bladder, then to reroute his bowels. If after those 2 procedures are done A.J.'s not been under for too long, Dr. Koo may or may not make a stoma (see link below) via his belly button to empty his bladder from. That decision will be made once they are in surgery though. According to Dr. Koo it just depends on how long he's been under once the first 2 procedures are completed. Dr. Koo stated that the surgery typically runs 8 - 10 hours. After surgery A.J. will go to the ICU and will probably still have a breathing machine placed that will remain through the next day. He will have several tubes coming out of him and will come home with at least 1 bag that his urine will be emptied into, possible 2 bags. That/those will remain in place for 3 weeks to give his new bladder a chance to heal.

He'll be admitted the day before, we are to arrive at 9am to get the show on the road. Goal for the 24th is to get A.J. "cleaned out". We are to start him on a clear diet on Saturday. This should be fun ... NOT, as yall know A.J. is a VERY picky eater!

We go back for a appointment with Jeanna (Dr. Koo's NP) to practice catherizing A.J. and go over any more concerns/questions we may have.

Hard to believe his surgery is less than a month away now, will be happy once its over and A.J. is on the mend!

Wesley's First Camping Trip

Wesley went camping this weekend with Nana and Poppa. Boy he was SO excited about this trip, it's all he talked about for weeks. Here he is helping Poppa set up camp.

Fun at the water park, he went down the "big green pitch black slide" he told us.

Poppa and Wes.
Wesley, Nana and Argus relaxing under the awning.
Skeery story time ..... Poppa goes first ...

Enjoying the Sun

Drew and I got in the pool with Wes this afternoon, after he got home from camping with Nana and Poppa. AJ chose to play chess on the computer so he's not in any of the pics.

Daddy and Wes, Wes refused to smile unless I gave him my sun glasses because it was too bright out.

Ty and Tucker joined the fun as well!

Met with Dr. Oticicia today. He's the bowel surgeon who will be operating with Dr. Koo (Urologist) on A.J. next month. He was a older man, very nice, and patient. Good thing he was the ladder, because by the time he came in the exam room, the boys and I had been waiting for a hour and twenty-five minutes!!! The boys were fit to be tied. He explained the procedure to me again, I found out that the surgeries will be between 10-12 hours. Figured it would be a long day but to actually hear a actual time frame WOW!

A.J. has a appointment on Wednesday of next week for a renal *bladder/kidney* ultrasound, and then a appointment immediately following with Dr. Koo. A.J. has a cyst on his kidney that his Dr. wants to take another look at before his procedures.

Here are a few links on the bladder augmentation surgery he'll be having.

A.J. will also have a stoma which we will empty his bowels "from above" with, his will be in this same spot or in his belly button.

Happy 4th of July

We went to a big family BBQ at Bonita and Joe's place out in Prince George.

Morgan, Aunt Sylvia and Daniel's daughter, so cute!

Mom and Dad enjoying dinner. There was all sorts of food there, bbq ribs, pork, chicken, hot dogs, every kind of cold salad you can think of, deviled eggs, pork n beans and so on ....

This is Shay, Bonita's newest addition, someone left her for Bonita to "puppy sit"
and the lady never came back to pick her up. The lady's loss though, she's such a sweet dog. She was enjoying all the scraps we were giving her.

Myself, my Aunt Sylvia, and her daughter, Morgan. Love my flower Wes gave me.

Wesley and Leslie, they were "buddies" all evening ... it was so cute!

AJ was fascinated with the Tiki torches.

I asked Wes to "smile" and this is what I got, lil' stinker!

Drew and the boys ... oy why can't I get a picture with them all smiling ...

Wes and I during the fireworks, he refused to smile for me so I had to tickle him to get a smile, haha!
